Where are the Jobs?

The advantage of working part-time while attending school goes beyond the extra money that comes with doing so. Being able to balance school work with a part-time job will do you a whole lot of good in terms of your ability to multitask and you are going to find that quite useful later in life. But where are the jobs for teens?

Where to Look for Jobs

There are many sectors in which a teenager can seek part-time employment. But child labor laws restrict young people below certain age threshold from being offered employment in a handful of sectors. The following are few of the best places to look if you are among those asking where are the jobs.

Retail – The retail sector has traditionally been the leading provider of jobs for young people. Your job will mostly involve staying behind a counter and attending to customers as they come around when working in retail. Restocking may also be part of your duties. You must be the patient type to enjoy working in retail, however.

Food service – This is another area where young people are usually in high demand for employment. A popular position is that of a waiter or waitress who attends to tables and ensures customers get quality service while eating. Busser and dishwasher are two of the other roles you may be eligible to apply for in food service businesses.

Construction – If you are at least 14 years old, you may be able to find a job in construction, but you will not be allowed to work on sites unless you are at least 16 years of age. There was a decline in the number of jobs available for young people in the sector during the recession, but things have started improving in recent years. Typical jobs include runners, flaggers, carpenters and landscape assistants.

In addition to the above sectors, health, warehouse and distribution, and hospitality are some of the others you may wish to check out when asking the question of where are the jobs.

Finding Suitable Jobs

There are certainly businesses in your locality that are engaged in at least one of the sectors mentioned earlier. You can just walk into these places and make enquiry on available opening. But first, you need to arm yourself with a well-prepared resume, just in case there are openings. It is essential to dress smart as well. Older family friends and neighbors may also be informed of your ongoing job search.

chefs new cooking methods

Chefs Should Learn Unusual Cooking Methods Too

Add variety to cooking methods

Being a chef is both fun and challenging. Usually, we may use one or two cooking methods only based on our expertise. The fact is that there are too many methods that we can learn and try out there. Learning something new has no harmful effects so it’s worth the try. Here are some new methods that we can use for cooking.

1. Blackening

This one is quite popular for some reasons. The blackening cooking technique is widely used when it comes to preparing fish and other related foods. We can see it in most Cajun cuisine. The first chef who popularized this cooking method is Paul Prudhomme. What is it about? The food is plunged in fluid butter and then combined with some spices and herbs. Chili pepper, thyme, onion powder, salt, and peppercorns are the basics. Then we cook the mixture in a heated cast-iron frying pan. The food will have black-colored crust as the result of overcooking flavors and burned margarine. This method is mostly applied for redfish, chicken cutlets, and steak.

2. Clay Pot Cooking

This way of cooking is a little bit traditional. Still, it has been used by many people around the world. A seasoned clay pot is very durable. Not to mention it’s versatile. The heat increases over time and the foods get cooked thoroughly within a span of 7 minutes. We only need to use medium heat for this type of technique. The prime benefit of using clay pot cooking technique is the excellent steam quality. We can have full moisture while cooking food using a clay pot. As a result, the dish will be more flavorful and tender. The water evaporation prevents over burning and we don’t even need to use oil. Clay pot will seal the entire nutrients and it’s lower in fat.

3. Engine Cooking Technique

For us who look for an extreme method to cook our food, we can try engine cooking technique. It’s a kind of cooking art by taking advantage of the heat coming from the internal burning engine. We can use either truck or car engine. Even though most chefs consider it as outrageous, it’s a good idea to look for relaxation. The technique was invented by truckers who use their truck’s engine heat to cook their lunch. It’s the best choice when we are travelling somewhere and we need to have the food done once we reach the destination. Lacking kitchen appliances are the reason why travelers and truckers apply this technique. Are chefs also interested?

4. Poaching Cooking Method

Next, we have the poaching technique. It’s a kind of moist-heat cooking method. We need to plunge the ingredients in a kind of liquid such as wine, milk, water, and others. Even though it belongs in the same category as boiling and simmering, we need only use low temperature to cook the food. The low range temperature is quite suitable for poultry, eggs, fruit, and fish. Any chefs should try this technique as it’s considered a healthier method of cooking. It also doesn’t include fat in the process. However, there are some reports regarding the mutagen risk if we use the method too often. The reason isn’t fully understood.

5. Leaching / Parboiling

This one is also interesting to try. Parboiling is the half-done food boiling as the initial phase of cooking. The basic use of this technique is to remove bad and poisonous substances from the food. We can also use it to soften veggies before we roast them. Actually, it isn’t a complete cooking technique as we need to use the other ones such as stir-frying, grilling, and braising. We get good benefits from it, though.

6. Air Frying

Now let’s talk about the current trend of cooking food. It’s by using an air fryer. This kitchen appliance helps us cook food by flowing hot air around the foodstuff. There’s a circulation mechanism within the appliance and it will circulate the hot air thoroughly around the food. As a result, we can get crispier layer upon the cooking. The average heat of the air circulation is 200 Celsius. The air fryer is the best to cook foods like fish, chips, pastries, and chicken. We don’t need to use too much oil too. Air Fryer Guide has a lot of information comparing different air fryers.

The air fryers usually come with timer knobs and changeable temperature. It means that we can be more precise when cooking. The foodstuff will be circulated in the cooking basket. We can’t include many foods at once, though. When it is about the brands, we can choose based on the market’s popularity. These products claim to save more cooking oil as compared to others. The important question is whether it is safe or not. Health is an important concern when it comes to cooking. All chefs understand it the most, actually.

An air fryer is considered more efficient and healthier than others. Why? We won’t get much fat from the cooking. Who should use it? Those who love fried food should try the new method to cook their favored recipes. Not to mention the fryer is easy to clean as well. When it is about the efficacy, the air fryer cooks faster. The temperature spreads thoroughly so it cooks in a more efficient way than regular fryers. As a result, we won’t spend too much time waiting for the oil to be heated. Let’s compare it with frying pan. We need to heat the oil by using an appropriate temperature. It takes quite a time before we can fry the food.

In a nutshell, an air fryer gives faster and healthier way of cooking. If we want to reduce weight, we must take advantage of this fryer. We can’t reduce the fat of the food without losing the taste. The next question is regarding where we can buy the product. As it’s a new item on the market, we rarely find it in local stores. Thus, we should look at the online stores instead. There are many brands to choose and we should know how to compare them. Spending our time reviewing those air fryers is worth the effort. We will get the best product at the most reasonable price.

Persuasive Essay on Teenage Jobs

Should young people combine education with work? Why is it important to work being a student? It does not worth mentioning that it is very difficult to work when you study at high school or college. Nevertheless, many students manage to balance their work with the curriculum and various extracurricular activities. Although work consumes much energy and time, it is useful to have at least a part-time job, because it provides you with experience and money. There are different points of about this relevant topic; therefore, I will try to observe it closer.

Many people say that teenagers should not work being at high school, because they waste their time. Young people could have spent this time on reading and self-improvement. Moreover, they feel tired and their current progress reduces. Many students have to wake up at 4 am in order to cope with their duties at work. Then they have their classes and continue their work after school. Naturally, it is hard to devote time to homework and various activities when you want to have a short rest. Finally, the opponents of teenage jobs claim that work deprives teenagers of their childhood.

To my mind, it is of vital importance to let a young person have at least a part-time job when he/she studies at high school. A part-time job opens wide opportunities to every teenager. When a teenager has a job when is a student, it helps him become independent, ambitious, experienced, responsible and professional.

To begin with, when one works, he receives money. Consequently, he becomes financially independent. It is very important to become at least partially independent of your family. You are able to purchase the things you want and you do not need to ask your parents to give you money. Furthermore, you can understand the actual value of money. If you work hard, you realize that you will not waste your money on various useless items. You will think twice before spending your wages.

Secondly, a teenager gets priceless experience when he combines work with education. In my opinion, it is easier to become a professional when you fulfil practical tasks. High school provides students with the theoretical knowledge, which cannot be compared with the real life situations. You will definitely develop your communicative and professional skills when you have a part-time job. High school will not provide you with the chance to communicate with your colleagues about various serious and relevant matters. When you study the basics of business, it is easier to understand its elements at the workplace. You are able to learn about the structure of a firm when you exist within its walls and communicate with other employees of different levels. You can get to know about management, logistics, marketing, etc. This knowledge is very valuable. It helps you develop your skills and broadens your outlook. When you are involved into the definite activity, you want to know about it more. Consequently, you will learn about the process of production of hamburgers if you work at a fast food restaurant and get to know about the production of various periodicals if your duty is the delivery of newspapers.

Next, a part-time job helps students understand the realities of adulthood. It is useful to understand that human life is full of challenges at the earliest age. Young people should get used to making money as soon as possible. They ought to realize that their parents will not support them all the time. They should support their living in order to become independent and responsible citizens. A job helps a teenager become responsible for his decisions, solutions and actions. Finally, a part-time job helps one train his character. For example, one should not be afraid of losing his workplace. When you get used to changing your workplace in adolescence frequently, you will not suffer from depression when you are fired. You will simply start looking for another job.

In conclusion, a part-time job is very important to every young person. If you study at high school, you should look for a part-time job in order to train your professionalism, knowledge, creativity and communicative skills. Everyone who used to work being a student is more competitive and inventive than other inexperienced employees. Such employees are more sociable, successful and open-minded. They know how to resolve conflicts and how to fulfill their duties better. They are more valuable for every prosperous firm.

Earning Extra Money: How to Find Work as a Tutor

Category : How To Become A

It is not easy to find a job. If you need to make a little extra money, you may have to think outside the box.

Private tutoring is a great way for a student to earn some cash to help themselves get by. Because you are in school and studying already, you likely know a lot about a variety of topics. While you must have a PGCE in order to teach in a school, you do not need any such qualifications in order to tutor students privately.

Does this sound interesting to you? Read on for more information.

Earnings

You can earn a lot as a private tutor. Rates certainly vary depending on the subject involved and your physical location. However, it is fair to ask for between £25 and £35 an hour. There are not many other places where you can earn that kind of money!

Experience

When it is time to apply for jobs, private tutoring experience looks great. A prospective employer can see that you have initiative and that you are willing to work hard. In addition, if you want to secure a position at a graduate school, there is no better experience than tutoring. It definitely gives you a leg up over other students that simply worked in a retail store.

You still have to pay your taxes, and you need to think about that in advance so that you do not get caught owing a lot of money at the end of the year. However, your earnings do need to exceed a certain amount of money before you owe any tax.

Some people even find that they decide to tutor full time and sort out a registered office address, go limited and begin their own business by branching out.

Legalities

Come up with a contract that goes over the relationship you will have with your students. For instance, the contract should outline what you will be paid and when you will work. If you have this ready to go in advance, you will find that everything runs more smoothly.

Rates

You can earn quite a bit of money as a private tutor. As you think about what you want to charge, remember that you have complete control. It may be best, however, to start at the low end of the range until you become more proficient as a tutor.

How Drinking And Driving Can Ruin Your Career

Category : Sponsored

Many times people will wake up sleeping comfortably on an unknown couch missing most or all of their clothing and stumble to their feet. A night has passed so it is perfectly fine to get into the car and drive home. However, the alcohol that is flowing through your bloodstream does not dissipate that quickly. While you may not feel stone drunk anymore, you are still under the influence of alcohol.

One of the most important steps is to not step behind the steering wheel of your car, or you may find yourself in front of a judge. While not every job is going to be potentially affected by a drunk driving conviction, there will always be ramifications to deal with.

Does Your Employer Have To Be Notified?

It is best to review your employee contract to determine if you are required to declare a drunk driving offense suggests Ian Beevis of drink driving insurer convictioninsure.co.uk. If you do not have a contract, a simple check through an employee handbook should give you the answers you seek. If you are required to drive on the job it is worth noting that almost all convictions will require an automatic driving ban. If nothing has been stated in any of the previous conditions, there is no reason why you should have to announce it.

Can You Lose Your Job?

Once again this is all dependent on the type of job you have. If you are required to drive for your employer, you may very well lose your job. If you are discovered driving drunk in a company car or on the job, you can be terminated. To understand all of your rights, talk to a manager or a drunk driving offense solicitor.

Will I Lose My License?

In almost all cases, this is a definite. This decision will lay solely on the judge. If he sees that there are special circumstances involved or you depend on your license to survive there may be a chance. However, most times you will have to become dependent on friends and public transportation.

Professional Associations

Many times people do not realize that they can be ejected from professional associations due to a criminal record. Most clubs will make you reveal any record you have including drunk driving convictions, but may be willing to work with you. It is best to read any literature that the association has published about joining and understand that most will do a background check. With that in mind, always be honest about any previous conviction.

Background Checks

If you are looking for a position that deals with young children or vulnerable adults, a background check will almost always be issued. Most of the times these background checks will only ask for basic disclosure, but more thorough checks are involved for serious positions.

You cannot believe that have a drunk driving offense on your record will not hurt your prospects in life. There are many people looking for jobs and that one stain on your record can ruin your chances. Drunk driving is still looked down upon in our society. It is so important to never get behind the wheel under any conditions. Do not put your entire life on the line. Be cautious and simply do not get behind the wheel after a drink.
